About the Philadelphia Real Book

These concerts are directly connected to our Philadelphia Real Book project, so it's important to know what a Real Book is. Briefly, the book is a collection of music that aspiring jazz musicians need to know. The Real Book has been the canon of the jazz community for many years, but this is the first time a jazz city has compiled a Real Book by the diverse artists who have roots here. The Philadelphia Real Book will bring a wider recognition to our city and our jazz community - our traditions, our stories, our music.
